Gregory C. Armstrong is an attorney with over 35 years of experience. Gregory has advocated for his clients in the state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. He is admitted to the bars of the states of Illinois and Nevada and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Gregory graduated from College cum laude and graduated from the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. He practiced with the general practice and real estate litigation firm of McCarthy and Levin from 1988 to 1993. In January 1993 he joined his father Edwin R. Armstrong in practice as a partner with the long established Chicago firm of Armstrong & Donnelly Ltd. The firm is now known as Armstrong Law Group.
Gregory is an "AV" rated attorney – the highest rating given by the respected peer evaluation process of Martindalle-Hubbell – for competency and ethics. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association. Gregory has served as chair of a section of the Chicago Bar Association probate committee of and served as the longtime vice-chair of the domestic relations legislation subcommittee. Gregory has served as a hearing officer for the Illinois Secretary of State and also chairs arbitration panels hearing cases under the Circuit Court Mandatory Arbitration System. In 2015, he completed mediation training at the top rated Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu California. Gregory now serves by special appointment of the judges in the Circuit Court of Cook County to safeguard the interests of minors as a Guardian Ad Litem and as an ADR Mediator where he has successfully resolved complex family estate and trust disputes.
Gregory continues to edit the Illinois Family Law Report, a respected monthly periodical subscribed to by over 500 lawyers and judges.
Edwin R. Armstrong (1921-2008) was a prominent Chicago loop attorney and practiced law successfully for over 55 years. While law and business have changed dramatically through the years, the firm strives to keep respect of both the profession and the law that Edwin embodied as its paramount goal.
